Mr. Lester Brosi, 85, of 414 Evergreen West, Quincy, died at 8:02 a.m. Saturday (February 7, 2004) in his home. Born March 6, 1918 in Quincy, Illinois, Lester was the son of Arthur W. and Lettitia Stout Brosi. He married Betty Schaffer on January 30, 1947 in Troy, Kansas. She survives. Lester was a 1936 graduate of Quincy High School and a member of Union United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Quincy American Legion Post #37 for 59 years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and was an avid Cardinal baseball fan. Mr. Brosi served his country in the Army from 1941 to 1945 during WWII. He served in the South Pacific seeing action in the campaigns of Fiji, New Hebrides, Gaudalcanal, Bougainville and the Philippine Islands. He received the Bronze Battle Star and the Purple Heart. Lester joined his Father and Brother in the Hannibal Monument Company after he returned home from the service. He worked there until his retirement in 1984. The business continues today. Survivors include one brother Roy Brosi and his wife Ann of Hannibal, MO, a sister Lela "Lee" Lindsay of Quincy, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Brosi was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Morwell. Burial with military honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund. |
