Mr. Michael M. Callihan, 84, of 3007 Rutledge Place, died at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday (January 20, 2004) in Memorial Hospital in Springfield. Born December 19, 1919 in Albany, Texas, Mr. Callihan was the son of T. H. and Grace Groves Callihan. He married Elizabeth "Liz" Campbell on December 2, 1944 in Kahoka, Missouri. She survives. Mr. Callihan served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II. He was awarded a Bronze Battle Star in the Luzon Campaign. Mr. Callihan was a graduate of Plymouth High School and attended Western Illinois University in Macomb. He was a well known drilling contractor in the surrounding counties and was a member of the Well Driller's Association and a former member of the Pittsfield American Legion Post. Mike enjoyed watching and participating in all sports, especially golf and bowling. Survivors include his wife, Liz; three sons, Michael "Mike" Callihan Jr. and his wife Bonnie of St. Peters, MO., Terry Callihan and his wife Robin of Pittsfield and Tony Callihan of Quincy; eight grandchildren, Greg Callihan and his wife Donna, Pat Callihan and his wife Pam and Marnie Hager and her husband Joe all of O'Fallon, MO., Gina Welch and her husband Bill of St. Peters, MO., Mike Callihan III and his wife Shawnean of Brentwood, MO., Lori Bradshaw and her husband Scott and Heather Callihan all of Griggsville, IL., and Angie Taylor of Pittsfield, IL.; fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Callihan was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Pat Callihan; and two sisters, Blanche Weisenberger and Genevieve Callihan. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. George Tomko. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Rosemont Cemetery in Plymouth. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Friday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. |
