Mr. William "Rocket" Calvin, 79, of 920 N. 6th, died at 1:10 a.m. Sunday (January 26, 2003) in Blessing Hospital. Born July 13, 1923 in Paris, IL., William was the son of Carl and Mae Mohler Calvin. He married Delores R. Lisenbee on July 30, 1942 in Paris, IL. She died November 1, 1997. William was a 30 year member of the 12 Step Recovery Group and was also a member of the Local Union #919. He served his country in the army during WWII. Mr. Calvin was employed as a construction worker for several years. Surviving is his companion, Mary Hefley of Quincy; two daughters, Linda Barry of Quincy, and Sharon Wilson and her husband Mike of Hannibal; two sons, Billy Joe Calvin of Hannibal, and Robert Calvin and his wife Dorene of Hutchinson , KS.; fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one brother, Don Calvin of Coatsburg, IL.; and one sister, Thelma Stortzum of Auburndale, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two daughters, Patsy Barton and Debra Bradley; two sisters, Emaline Deivers, and Betty Rhodes; and a son-in-law, Orville Barry. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Jim Allen. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Quincy V.F.W. Post #5129. |
