Mrs. Helen M. Campbell, 92, of the Illinois Veterans Home, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday (April 5, 2003) in the home. Born October 6, 1910 in Liberty, Helen was the daughter of Carl W. and Melvina Ellen Murphy Linker. She married John F. Campbell on June 11, 1937 in Quincy. He died December 10, 1973. Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Central Baptist Church, the American Baptist Women, the Women's Bible Class, the American Association of Retired Persons and a 50 year member of the Alpha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Helen also enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Illinois Veterans Home. She was employed as a desk clerk at the Newcomb Hotel for 10 years. Surviving is her sister, Lenore Vollmer of Quincy and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, and three sisters. Cremation rites were accorded to Mrs. Campbell. Memorials services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Charles Baker. Inurnment will be in Quincy Memorial Park. There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the memorial services. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church or to Blessing Hospice. |
