Mr. Gaylord Forrest Carper, 93, of Sunset Home, formerly of 523 Payson Ave., went home to be with his Lord, Jesus at 8:45 p.m. Thursday (June 26, 2003) in Sunset Home.

Born July 12, 1909 in Huntsville, IL., Mr. Carper was the son of Melvin Lee and Lula Mae Jackson Carper. He married Thelma Isabelle McCoy on November 2, 1936 in Canton, MO. She survives.

Mr. Carper was a member of Bible Baptist Church, a volunteer with R. S. V. P. for 10 years and he enjoyed gardening and playing his harmonica.

Mr. Carper was employed as an assembler for Brower Manufacturing for 40 years, retiring in 1975.

Also surviving is a daughter, Linda Stoner and her husband Jim of Quincy; a son, Ronald Carper and his wife Barbara of Springdale, AR.; six grandchildren, Daniel Stoner and his wife Tina of Burton, Stephen Stoner and his wife Lisa of O'Fallon, MO., Michael Carper of Fayetteville, AR., Jeffery Carper and his wife Tish and Charissa Sims and her husband Eric all of Boulder, CO. and Ramona Shanehband of Springdale, AR.; 13 great grandchildren; a half brother, James Carper and his wife Sandra of Greenville, MI.; and two sisters in law,Thelma Schwengel of Quincy and Norma Merrill and her husband Melvin of Canton, MO.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Carper was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and a sister.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Mike Price. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Monday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Bible Baptist Church or Sunset Home.
