LOYD D. CHESNUTT
On Saturday, April 21, 2001 at 10:35 a.m., the angels descended from heaven and took our angel, Loyd D. Chesnutt home.

Born May 16, 1933 in Schuyler County, IL., Loyd was the son of Casper and Clara Gooding Chesnutt. He married Elva Stroud on May 7, 1955 in Quincy. She died May 12, 1991.

Mr. Chesnutt served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Quincy American Legion Post #37.

Loyd was employed by Electric Wheel, a division of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and later for Admiral Appliance in Galesburg, IL. He retired due to ill health.

Surviving is a daughter, Patricia Taute and her husband Bobby of Quincy; a step daughter, Berta Gooding of Quincy; three grandchildren, Teresa Taute, Bobbie Taute and Kristopher Taute all of Quincy; two step grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Hitz and Doris Atwood and her husband Clayton both of Aurora, IL.; five brothers, John Chesnutt and his wife Glenda and Joe Chesnutt both of Aurora, IL., Casper Chesnutt and his wife MaryAnn of Paducah, KY., Virgil Chesnutt and his wife Kay of Marseilles, IL. and Paul Chesnutt and his wife Paula of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Chesnutt was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, James Chesnutt.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Dennis Amsler. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Loyd Chesnutt Memorial Fund.
