WILBUR 'BILL' CHEZEM SR.
Wilbur "Bill" Chezem Sr., 70, of 2214 Bonansinga Drive at 11:10 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 18, 2001) in Blessing Hospital.

Born April 27, 1930, in Galesburg, Mr. Chezem was a son of Roy Douglas and Iola Marie Cook Chezem. He married Helen I. Hogge on Aug. 14, 1948, in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Chezem was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing and working outdoors. He also liked to do carpentry work and construction. Wilbur was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 535 and VFW Post 5126. He served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Mr. Chezem was employed by Motorola for may years. He then was employed by Moorman Manufacturing in the Livestock Equipment Division for more than 16 years, retiring in 1987.

Survivors include a son, Wilbur "Bill" Chezem Jr. and his wife, Beverly, of Quincy; three daughters, Linda Chezem of Quincy, Karen Hulett and her husband, Frank, of Golden and Carol Rardon of Camp Point; six grandchildren, William Chezem, Mathew Chezem and Bonnie Chezem, all of Quincy, and Amanda Rardon, Ashley Rardon and Robbie Rardon, all of Camp Point; a brother, Chief Petty Officer Ramon J. Chezem U.S.N. retired and his wife, Mary Ann, of Fairfax, VA.; two sisters, Vana Langdon of Rosenberg, TX., and Donna Timmerberg and her husband, Wendell, of New Florence, MO.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Chezem was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Roger Grimmett. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and until time of services Monday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
