| Mr. Walter M. "Buck" Christ, 85, of Sycamore Health Care Center., died at 3:45 a.m. Thursday (June 28,
2001) in Blessing Hospital. Born November 19, 1915 in Burlington, IA., Buck was the son of John and Goldie McAlister
Christ. He married Mabel L. Leach on November 7, 1941 in Palmyra, MO. She died December 24, 1997. Buck was a member of Labor Local 919 and a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II. Buck woked in Construction for many years for Labor Local 919. He retired in 1978. Surviving are three daughters, Zelda Smith and her husband Theodore and Jeanette Bartz and her husband Charles both of Quincy and Judy Slater and her husband Darrell of Marcelline; three sons, Terry Christ and his wife Diana, Tony Christ and his wife Mary and Donald Christ and his wife Jackie all of Quincy; a step daughter, Helen Wells of Quincy; 15 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; a brother, Harry Riley of West Point, IL.; a sister, Navada Nichols and her husband Danny of Meda, IL.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Christ was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a step son, William Christ; two grandchildren, Danny Bartz and Tina Christ; a brother, C. F. "Bill" Christ; and a sister, Florence Schemmel. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Tom Waters. Burial with military honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made WTJR TV or the charity of the donor's choice. |
