Mrs. G. Fern Clampitt, 77, or 5430 Town & Country Lane, died at 9:20 p.m. Friday (January 17, 2003) in Blessing Hospital.

Born August 12, 1925 in Quincy, Mrs. Clampitt was the daughter of Leonard and Mildred Conover Patterson. She married Austin Clampitt on September 14, 1941 in Palmyra, Missouri.

Mr. & Mrs. Clampitt traveled extensively throughout the United States following Mr. Clampitt's profession as one of the top iron workers in the business. After almost 35 years of marriage, Mr. & Mrs. Clampitt divorced. Mrs. Clampitt decided to stay in Quincy and help raise her granddaughter, Marveena Fern.

Mrs. Clampitt was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting and loved flowers. She especially loved her dogs, Isa Beau and Missy Sue, and feeding the birds and squirrels.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Joyce Boyd and her husband John of Quincy and Diana Mildred Clampitt, with whom she made her home; and a granddaughter, Marveena Fern Miller of Springfield, IL.

Mrs. Clampitt was preceded in death by her parents; a brother in infancy, Bruce Wayne Patterson; and her maternal grandmother which she was especially close to, Grace Chloe McCullough Conover Ciglotti.

Cremation rites were accorded to Mrs. Clampitt. Private family inurnment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
