Mrs. Elsie M. Clark, 95, of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, MO., formerly of 2039 Cherry Lane, Quincy, and the Plymouth and Bowen area, died at 6:15 a.m. Thursday (December 11, 2003) in the home. Born August 19, 1908 in New Albany, Indiana, Elsie was the daughter of Robert and Edith Hill McTee. She married Wayne Clark in February of 1925 in Macomb, IL. He died in October of 1966. Elsie was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Plymouth and Quincy. She was an avid bowler, bowling well into her eighties. She was employed as a hostess at the Holiday Inn in Quincy for over 14 years until her retirement. Survivors include a daughter, Norma LaVingon of Maywood, MO.; a grandson, David LaVingon and his wife Kathy of Maywood, MO.; a great granddaughter, Stacy LaVingon of East Moline, IL.; three great great grandchildren, Claire, Marly, and Dylan all of East Moline; one sister, Roberta Vance of Carthage, IL.; and several nieces and nephews. Elsie was proud of the fact that she had five generations in her family for 9 years. Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Willie McTee. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Dewayne Larenson. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery in Plymouth. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Maple Lawn Nursing Home. |
