Mr. Elmer C. Clifford, 82, formerly of 1004 Jefferson, died at 12:35 p.m. Monday (August 25, 2003) in the Illinois Veterans Home. Born July 10, 1921 in Quincy, Elmer was the son of Charles and Edith Landrum Clifford. He was married to Marjorie Brookshire. She died on June 29, 1993. Elmer was a member of Central Baptist Church. He served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II, receiving two Bronze Battle Stars from action in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines. Elmer was employed for many years as a shipping clerk at Brower Manufacturing until his retirement. Surviving is a son, Terry Clifford of Quincy. Mr. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and three sons, Carl Clifford and infant twin sons. Graveside services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 in Greenmount Cemetery by Pastor Jerry Harris. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 to 1:15 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Elmer C. Clifford Memorial Fund. |
