Mrs. Shirley Jean Cookson, 66 , of 2637 Wismann Lane, died at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday (January 15, 2002) in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital.

Born December 19, 1935 in Wheeling, MO., Shirley was the daughter of Charles and Evelyn Howerton Drummond. She married Robert "Bobby" Cookson on December 20, 1952 in Mt. Sterling, IL. He survives.

Shirley enjoyed playing Bingo and the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was employed at Motorola for 10 years and then for 13 years at Caseys General Store in Quincy until her illness in December, 2001.

Also surviving is a son, Bob Cookson of Quincy; a daughter, Paula Ludwig of Nauvoo; a son in law, Keith Ludwig of Quincy; two grandchildren, Kristie Austin and her husband Mike of Quincy and Zeik Cookson-Ludwig of Nauvoo; four great grandchildren, Bobby Harrison, Devin Austin, Zach Cookson and Jarett Cookson all of Quincy; two brothers, Richard Drummond and his wife Traci and A. Frank Drummond and his wife Joan of Quincy; three sisters, Vivian Miles and her husband Paul and Mildred Donhardt and her husband Edward of Quincy and Bernice Nichols and her husband Richard "Jack" of Ft. Madison, IA.; and several nieces and nephews and brothers in law and sisters in law.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Dorothy Arnold and Edith Cookson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Larry Troxel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
