Mr. Charles L. Coons, 78, of 813 South 16th, died at 10:45 p.m. Monday (January 27, 2003) in Blessing Hospital. Born February 26, 1924 in Keota, Missouri, Mr. Coons was the son of Jesse Edward and Sylvia May Cook Coons. He married Phyllis Gosney on December 2, 1945 in Bevier, Missouri. She survives. Mr. Coons was employed as a foreman for Lagomarcino Group in Quincy for 23 years. He later was employed by Prairie Farms Dairy in Quincy for 20 years until his retirement in 1986. Also surviving is a son Charles W. "Bill" Coons and his wife Kitty of Quincy; four grandchildren, Tom Coons, Seth Coons, Jared Coons and Cory Joanna Rizvi and her husband Fahad all of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Coons was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Aaron Michael Coons; a sister, Dorothy Gedney; and two brothers, Jim Coons and a brother in infancy. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:30 to 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Transitions of Western Illinois. |
