Mrs. Celia Elizabeth Cooper, 84, of North Adams Home, formerly of 312 South 11th, died at 6:10 a.m. Sunday (January 13, 2002) in Blessing Hospital.

Born December 5, 1917 in Marblehead, IL., Celia was the daughter of August W. and Mary Jane Wilson Smith Sr.. She married Austin C. Cooper on February 28, 1939. He died June 22 1969.

Mrs. Cooper was a member of Union United Methodist Church. She was employed at J. H. Miller Manufacturing in Quincy and later in Housekeeping for the Elkton Hotel for many years. She retired in 1980.

Surviving are three brothers, August W. Smith Jr. and his wife Patsy of Sandia, TX., Earl E. Smith and his wife Lois and James L. Smith Sr. and his wife Edna Mae all of Qunicy; five sisters, Mae Goodwin, Norma Miller and Inez Bailey and her husband Glen all of Quincy, Minnie McElfresh and her husband William of Beardstown and Shirley Bowen and her husband Gary of Canton, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews

Celia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and six brothers, Clifford, Delbert, Thomas, Ralph, Billy and Carl Smith.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Morewell. Burial will be in the Payson New Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice.
