Mrs. Shirley Copher, 76, of Plainville, died at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday (April 30, 2002) in her home.

Born March 2, 1926 in Alton, IL., Shirley was the daughter of Merle and Alice Windmiller Wright. She married Lawrence A. Copher on September 24, 1944 in Louisiana, Missouri. He died on May 4, 1974.

Shirley was a member of Akers Chapel Church of Christ. She was a long time blood donor and loved to sew and read.

She was employed in the laundry department of Blessing Hospital for many years until her retirement.

Surviving are two sons, Ed Copher and his wife Marcia of Milford, IL. and Richard Copher of Loraine; five grandchildren, Eric Copher and Tina Marshall and her husband Phil both of Plainville, Dawn Garrelts and her husband Lyle and David Copher both of Fowler, IN. and Lance Copher of Milford, IL.; six great grandchildren; a brother, Paul Wright of Pittsfield; a sister, Gussie Fritz and her husband Robert of Louisiana, MO.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Copher was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother Gene Wright.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 in Akers Chapel Church of Christ near Plainville by the Rev. Neil Larimore and Rev. Carl Lucas. Burial will be in Akers Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson and Friday from 9:30 until the time of services at the church.

Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation, Akers Chapel Church of Christ or the Payson Senior Citizens.
