Mr. Richard L. Daggett, 76, of 1502 N. 7th, died at 9:26 a.m. Monday (October 22, 2001) in Blessing Hospital.

Born February 19, 1925 in Timewell, IL. Richard was the son of Arvel "Jack" and Nellie Elizabeth Taylor Daggett. He married Patricia Darlene Hudelson on July 20, 1946 in Rushville. She survives.

Richard was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, travelling and family geneaology. He was a member of the Bedford-Euless American Legion Post #0379 in Bedford, TX. and a member of the Quincy VFW #5129. He served his country in the Army in WWII.

Mr. Daggett was employed as a truck driver for Vidas Transfer Lines in Quincy for eighteen years. He then drove for the Bonewiciz Chemical Company in Burlington, IA. from 1966 until his retirement in 1978.

Also surviving is one daughter, Diana Gillespie and her husband Gary of Hurst, TX.; four sons, Ronald Daggett and his wife Kathy, Rick Daggett, and Bill Daggett and his wife Vicki, all of Quincy, and Richard Daggett Jr. and his wife Debbie of Monroe City, MO; nineteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Russell Daggett and his wife Ethel of Clayton, IL.; and one sister, Gladys Jean Taylor and her husband Harold of Clayton.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Dale Daggett; and two grandsons, Richard III Daggett and Art Daggett.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Roger Selves. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund.
