Norma J. Day, 78, of Good Samaritan Home, formerly of Payson, died Saturday (February 28, 2004) at Good Samaritan Home.

She was born on December 12, 1925, in Mattoon IL., the daughter of Earl and Opha Cain Totten. She married Wilson M. Day on June 12, 1946, in Charleston. They were married 53 years.

Mr. Day preceded his wife in death on March 18, 2000, as well as a daughter, Janice Lynn, who died at age 3 of polio. Mrs. Day is survived by a daughter, Beth (husband Dan) Glenn of Jacksonville, and twins Amy Day of Hartford City, IN, and Thomas Day of Jacksonville, as well as grandsons Christopher Glenn of Memphis, TN, and Kelly Glenn of Jacksonville.

Mrs. Day was a graduate of Charleston Teachers College High School and attended Eastern Illinois University before her marriage. During her husband's teaching, coaching, and administrative career, she lived in Chester, Bement, Nashville, Westville, and Payson (IL). She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, playing cards and board games, reading, traveling, good movies, and good friends. She especially enjoyed all aspects of community theater in Quincy and Danville. Before the death of her husband, she treasured their winters spent in Panama City Beach, FL.

Cremation rites were accorded to Mrs. Day. A memorial service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Good Samaritan Home Chapel by Rev. Steve Disseler.

The family will meet with friends after the memorial service.

Memorials are suggested to Quincy Community Theater or Good Samaritan Home.
