CLARENCE DENNIS
 

Mr. Clarence Dennis, 95, of Sunset Home, formerly of 525 S. 18th St.,
Died at 12:03 a.m. Sunday (June 6, 2004) at Sunset Home.

Born April 2, 1909 near Maywood, MO., Clarence was the son of Robert
and Nora Clow Dennis. He married Carrie Moore on June 29, 1929 in Quincy.
She died March 6, 1991.

Clarence enjoyed fishing and was an avid Cardinal Baseball Fan. He was
a school crossing guard for many years at 25th and Maine, 20th and
Jefferson, and 20th and State. He was a volunteer fireman for the Tri
Township Fire Department and enjoyed being at the firehouse at 18th and
State.

Mr. Dennis was employed at Celotex for 45 years retiring in 1976.

Surviving is a daughter, Marjorie Lamb and her husband Harold of
Quincy, a granddaughter, Vickie Lamb of Quincy; a nephew, Colin Cummings and
his wife Theresa of Elgin, IL.; three nieces, Virginia Hull of Maywood, MO.,
Mary Lamb and her husband Norbert of Denver, CO., and Reghnald Eichor and
her husband Ellison of Maywood, MO.; and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two half sisters,
Gertrude Menne and Nellie Lawrence; one brother, Everett Dennis; and two
half brothers, Jim and Paul Cummings; and one nephew Paul Cummings Jr. and
his wife Virginia.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 at the Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Robert Morwell. Burial will be
in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 6:00 and
Thursday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Union United Methodist Church or Blessing
Hospice.
