HELEN "PENNY" DeWITT
 

Mrs. Penny DeWitt, 51, of Liberty, died at 10:12 p.m. Thursday (August 28, 2003) in her home.

Born June 19, 1952 in Quincy, Penny was the daughter of Anthony D. and Virginia McKenzie Jackson Sr. She married William T. "Bill" Owens on June 3, 1976 in Quincy. He died July 12, 1994. She later married Robert E. "Bob" DeWitt on November 26, 2001 in Quincy. He survives.

Penny was a graduate of Quincy Senior High School and enjoyed sewing, gardening, and reading. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was currently employed as a supervisor for the Quincy University Food Service Department for the past 18 years.

Also surviving are her parents, Anthony D. and Virginia Jackson Sr. of Quincy; two daughters, Shawna Fuhrman and her husband Mike of Coatsburg, and Heather DeWitt of Quincy; two sons, William T. Owens and his wife Theresa of Quincy, and Eric DeWitt and his wife Carrie of Liberty, IL.; four grandchildren, Michael Furhman and Destiny Furhman, both of Coatsburg, Aspen DeWitt of Quincy, and Austin DeWitt of Liberty; and one brother, Anthony D. Jackson Jr. and his wife Mary Beth of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, and a brother, William Edward Jackson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Ronald Graham. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice or the Grandchildren's Education Fund.
