NELLIE M. "BETTY" DINKHELLER
 

Mrs. Nellie M. "Betty" Dinkheller, 98, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of 1801 South Highland, died at 12:50 p.m. Saturday (April 3, 2004) at the home.

Born May 30, 1905 in Ursa, Betty was the daughter of Thomas and Catherine Elston Baker. She married Ralph Dinkheller on April 2, 1952 in Moline, Illinois. He died February 13, 2001.

Betty was a member of Central Baptist Church where she was a Past Deaconess and a member of Royal Neighbors.

A graduate of the Blessing Hospital School of Nursing, Betty was an L. P. N. at Blessing Hospital for many years before becoming a dental assistant for Quincy Dentist Dr. Roy J. Ernst. She retired in 1981.

Surviving is a son, Paul Leland Baker and his wife Alfreda of Peoria, AZ.; three grandchildren, Carol Lea Harrington and her husband Melvin of Phoenix, AZ., Randell Baker of Phoenix, AZ. and Catherine Soto of Tuscon, AZ.; eleven great grandchildren; sixteen great great grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Robbins of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Dinkheller was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and seven brothers, Bryan, Virgil, John, Argel, Mace, Walton and Christopher Baker.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Baker. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund.
