| Mr. Ralph L. Dinkheller, 82, of 1801 So. Highland, died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday (February 13, 2001) at the Illinois
Veterans Home. Born August 26, 1918 in Quincy, Mr. Dinkheller was the son of William and Clara Brink Dinkheller. He married Nellie M. "Betty" Baker on April 2, 1952 in Moline, IL. She survives. Mr. Dinkheller was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church. In his younger days, Ralph loved to box. He was the open division golden gloves champion for two consecutive years, fighting in Quincy and Chicago. Mr. Dinkheller was employed in the maintenance department at Electric Wheel for over 22 years, retiring in 1980. Also surviving is a stepson, Paul L. Baker and his wife Alfreda of Peoria, AZ.; three step grandchildren, Randell Baker and Carol Lea Harrington both of Phoenix, AZ., and Catherine Soto of Tucson, AZ; ten step great grandchildren; 15 step great great grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Dinkheller of Cincinnati OH., and Richard Dinkheller and his wife Viola of Quincy; one sister, Elizabeth Disselhorst and her husband Glenn of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Dinkheller was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lucille Dinkheller, Virginia Scharnhorst, and Mildred Anderson; and one brother, Charles Dinkheller. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home by the Rev. Richard Jeske. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, 1435 State Street, Quincy, IL. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund or The Shriners Hospital. |
