WILLIAM L. EHRHARDT
 

William L. Ehrhardt, 75, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of 426 Aden Drive, died at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday (March 2, 2004) at the Veterans Home.

Born January 19, 1929 in Adams County, Bill was the son of Lawrence and Ida Benz Ehrhardt. He married Phyllis Terstriep on November 22, 1951 in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Ehrhardt was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, South Side Boat Club, Twin Oaks Club, and the Knight's of Columbus. He enjoyed boating on the river and watching TV and loved being with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Ehrhardt served his country as a Sergeant with the U. S. Army Medical Company, 123rd Infantry Regiment in the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was a co-owner of Willer Dairy for 20 years and then was employed as a superintendent with Prairie Farms Dairy for 20 years until his retirement in 1992.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; a daughter, Christy Pieper and her husband Matt of Quincy; three sons, Gary Ehrhardt of Brown Mills, N. J., Mark Ehrhardt and his wife Brenda of Arlington, WA. and Chuck Ehrhardt and his wife Kay of Carterville, IL.; seven grandchildren, Tyler Pieper and Austin Pieper both of Quincy, Jeffrey Ehrhardt, Zachary Ehrhardt and Sam Ehrhardt all of Arlington, WA., Jason Linck of Carterville, IL. and Taylor Turner of Grenlock, N. J.; two great grandchildren, Damon Linck and Chase Linck both of Carterville, IL.; two brothers, Roger Ehrhardt and his wife Lee and Lawrence "Beaver" Ehrhardt both of Quincy; three sisters, Anna Mae Obert of Liberty, JoAnn Russell and her husband Marvin and Rosie Frericks and her husband Matt all of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ehrhardt was preceded in death by his parents; and six brothers, Andy, Tony, Walter, James, Eugene and Leo Ehrhardt.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:30 in St. Dominic Catholic Church by the Rev. Donald Knuffman and Rev. Richard Jeske. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Calvary Cemetery

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Friday until the time of services at the funeral home. A Parish Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 Thursday evening in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church or the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund.
