| Mary Jean Gaskill, 80, of rural
Quincy, died at 2:24 p.m. Monday (June
28, 2004) in Sunset Home.
Born July 25, 1923 in Quincy, Mary Jean was the daughter of Roy A. and
Rose Loenker Trower Sr.. She married Harold Rosser Gaskill on October
2,
1943 and they made their home in Quincy. He preceded her in death on April
27, 2004. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary last October.
Harold and Jean had five children, Carol A. Scott and her husband John,
of East Peoria, Ill., Harold Richard Gaskill, who died shortly after birth
and is buried in Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, R. Joe Gaskill and his
wife
Pam, of St. Augustine, Ill., Mary E. King and her husband John, of New
Freedom, Pa., and David K. Gaskill and his wife Debby, of East Peoria,
Ill.
Also surviving are her Grandchildren, David J. Scott, Rebekah L.
Patten, Stephen M. Scott, MD, Amy J. Daniels, Andrea B. Moore, John B.
King
IV, Sarah C. King, Christopher D. Gaskill, Jonathan T. Gaskill. One
grandchild John Franklin Scott Jr. preceded her. Knowing her
Great-grandchildren, Jacob, Rachel, Daniel & Caleb Scott, Madeleine,
Emily,
& Josephine Patten, Audrey Scott, Spencer & Wesley Daniels, and
Dylan Moore
was one of the joys of her life. She is also survived by two sisters,
Rosie
M. Akers and her husband Harry of Princeton, IL. and Virginia M. Maynard
of Newport News, VA.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gaskill was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother,
Roy A. Trower Jr.
Jean was a member of the Gideons International and Calvary Baptist
Church. She attended Gem City Business College and loved to help others
by
knitting mittens for the Salvation Army, which were given away at Christmas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. L. D. Grant. Burial
will
be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:00 until the time of
services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
