Mr. Harold William Gibbs, 85, of Wilmette, Illinois, died at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday (February 9, 2003) in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Born October 14, 1917 in Quincy, Mr. Gibbs was the son of William F.
and Margaret D. Randall Gibbs. He married Margaret Rose Heidbreder on
April 26, 1941 in Quincy. She died February 8, 1971. He married Evelyn
Poklop on June 22, 1974 in Chicago . She survives.
Mr. Gibbs served his country in the U. S. Navy aboard the U. S. S. Miller
during WW II. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed boating.
A graduate of Quincy High School and the University of Illinois. Mr.
Gibbs owned and operated the Callerman Company in Chicago for many years
until his retirement.
Also surviving is a son, William H. Gibbs and his wife Lisa of Scottsdale,
AZ; a son, Joseph Poklop and his wife Allison of Mt. Prospect, IL;
a daughter, Claudia Palazzola and her husband Lou of Mr. Prospect, IL;
seven grandchildren, Harold W. Gibbs, William F. Gibbs, Katherine Ann
Gibbs all of Scottsdale, AZ and Brenden Mazur, Becky Mazur, Steven Poklop
and Natalie Poklop all of Mt. Prospect, IL; a sister, Dorothy Gochicoa
of Aiken, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Margaret
Rose; and a son in infancy, Randall Gibbs.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in Zehender Robinson
Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Lou Palazzola. Burial with Military Honors
by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:00 am until the time of services
at the funeral home.
