Mrs. Erma M. Gilliland, 95, of 1306 Harrison Plaza, died at 3:46 p.m. Friday (November 21, 2003) in Memorial Hospital in Springfield. Born May 29, 1908 in Ursa Township, Adams County, Illinois, Erma was the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth Ahland Muegge. She married Cecil M. Gilliland on July 1, 1928 in Quincy. He died March 1, 1986. Mrs. Gilliland was a member of Luther Memorial Church and a 53 year member of the Women of the Moose. Mrs. Gilliland was employed by Davis Cleaver for 25 years and later at the Ritz and then for Gem City Pizza for 38 years, retiring in 1999 at the age of 91. Surviving are two sons, Loren E. Gilliland and his wife Melba of Olathe, CO., and Wayne E. Gilliland and his wife JoAnn of Quincy; ten grandchildren, Cassie Oenning and her husband Bob of Ursa, Brent Gilliland and his wife Vera of Quincy, Michele Gilliland of Seffner, FL., Jeff Gilliland and his wife Marla, and Jill Edgar and her husband Steve, all of Quincy, Sheri Howell and her husband Andy of Ursa, David Gilliland and his wife Lisa, and Lori Cantrell, all of Quincy, Amy Carper and her husband Joe of Canton, MO., and Scott Gilliland and his wife Tina of Quincy; 19 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; a sister, Edna Schneider of Peoria, AZ; and several nieces and a nephew. Mrs. Gilliland was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Virgil and Henry Muegge. Funeral services will be held Tueday morning at 10:30 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Leland Uden. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Church Parking Lot Fund. |
