| Mrs. Dollie Fonza "Snooky" Gordon, 86, of St. Vincent's Home, formerly of 2015 Spruce, died at 9:08 a.m.
Tuesday (February 13, 2001) in St. Vincent's Home. Born January 15, 1915 in Quincy, Mrs. Gordon was the daughter of Leslie E. and Mary G. Johnson Fonza. She married Joe Roy Gordon on December 3, 1955 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1983. Snooky was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church and was an avid bowler, active with many leagues over the years. She was loved by her family who considered her the "Grand Matriarch." She worked in childcare with the Frederick Ball Daycare Center and later was a domestic housekeeper in Quincy for many years until her retirement. Surviving are two sisters, Lillian Newman of Los Angeles, CA. and Rebecca Johnson of St. Louis, MO.; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and seven sisters. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Donald Bailey. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home. A repass will be held following the services at Bethel AME Church. |
