Mrs. Madelyn Jane Gredell, 82, of 1025 S. 15th, died at 4:00 p.m. Monday (February 10, 2003) in Blessing Hospital. Born August 8, 1920 in Gorin, MO., Madelyn was the daughter of Augusta and Minnie Goodwin Oliver. She married Lyle Sawyer, LeRoy Collins, and John Lawrence Gredell who all preceded her in death. Madelyn was a member of Colony Baptist Church in Colony, MO. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading, and spending time with her cat Pid. She was employed as a cook at Lincoln Hill Nursing Home. Surviving are three daughters, Charlotte Turner and her husband Robert of Quincy, Carolyn Hess of Las Vegas, NV., and Yevonne Bragg and her husband Lawrence of LaPlata, MO.; one son, Garland Sawyer of Arlington, VA.; five grandchildren, Robert Turner Jr. of Chicago, Alan Hess Jr. of Lancaster, CA., Amy Turner and Mrs. Donald and Crystal Shaw both of Quincy, and Angela Hess of Las Vegas, NV.; one great granddaughter, Candace Christian of Lancaster, CA.; and one sister Bessie Johnston of Columbia, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers. Graveside services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 in Greenmount Cemetery by Rev. Steve Disseler. There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside services. Memorials may be made to Quincy Humane Society. Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. |
