Mrs. Grace A. Halfpap, 88, of 1420 South 22nd, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday (June 17, 2001) in Blessing Hospital. Born December 5, 1912 in Fulton, MO., Grace was the daughter of Alvin Frank and Maggie Ripley Ostrander. She married Harry Elmer Bryant on October 1, 1935 in Quincy. He died July 20, 1980. She married Ingward Halfpap on October 27, 1984 in Beaver Creek, Ohio. He died November 30, 1984. Grace was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ and the Afternoon Women's Guild of the church. She was also a member of Miriam White Shrine of Jerusalem, Eagles Auxiliary, and was a 25 year volunteer for R. S. V. P. and was inducted into the R.S.V.P. Hall of Fame last year. Grace was employed at Motorola from 1948 to 1958 and then for Gates Radio from 1960 until 1970. She later worked in the Social Security Office and was a part time receptionist at John Wood Community College until her retirement in 1989. Surviving are two daughters, June Lahrman and her husband William of Quincy and Jean Martin of Athens, IL.; one son, Harry Bryant and his wife Kathy of Park Forrest, IL. and a stepson I. R. "Butch" Halfpap and his wife Leah of Beaver Creek, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Sibbing and his wife Kathy of Quincy, Jonathan Sibbing and his wife Connie of Quincy, Daniel Martin and his wife Angie of West Liberty, IA, Julie Sibbing of Alexandria, VA., Debra Derry and her husband Jimmy of Summum, IL., Harry Bryant and his wife Julie of Salem, OR., and Justin Bryant and his wife Lidia of Richton Park, IL.; three step grandchildren, Mark Halfpap, Eric Halfpap, and Pam Halfpap; nine great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; three infant children, Jackie Epperson, Sandra Bryant, and Carol Bryant; four brothers, Alvin, Joseph, Ivan and Frank Ostrander; and three sisters, Lela Cook, Edna Beattie and an infant sister, Fannie Ostrander. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Stephen Schuette. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services in the funeral home. Eagles Auxillary #535 will conduct services at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Salem Church or the R.S.V.P. of Quincy.
