JAMES H. "JIM" HAVERMALE
 

Mr. James H. "Jim" Havermale, 81, of 731 Shady Acres, died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday (February 15, 2003) in Blessing Hospital, after suffering a heart attack.

Born January 26, 1922 in Quincy, Jim was the son Noel L. and Elenora Mueller Havermale. He married Florence Emerick on May 10, 1942 in Palmyra, MO. She survives.

Mr. Havermale was a graduate of Quincy High School. He served his country in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army as a Corporal. Jim was a life long member of the Moose Lodge #986 where he served as governor for three consecutive years. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. When he was younger he had his own band, The Prairie Boys.

Mr. Havermale was employed by Harris Corporation for 28 years retiring in 1967. In 1967 he purchased The White Star Cleaners which he owned and operated until 1978. Mr. Havermale later owned and operated Havermale Radio and TV Shop until 1993.

Also surviving are four daughters, Betty Jean Golden and her husband Jerry of Golden, Sandra Ann Meyer and her husband Richard of Quincy, Barbara Jo VanCamp and her husband Terry of Springfield, IL., and Patricia Marie Hildebrand and her husband Grant of Taylor, MO.; three sons, John Kent Sr. and his wife Dianna of Hunnewell, MO., Robert Lee and his wife Karen of Lewistown, MO., and Michael Thomas and his wife Reginia of North Brook, MI.; 21 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara Price of Sparks, NV., and Mary Verigan of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by three sons, James H. Jr., Ronald Lee, and one son in infancy; five brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and 10:30 at St. Boniface Catholic Church by Rev. John Carberry, Rev. David Cox, and Rev. John Kennedy. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home with a prayer service to be held at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church or to the donor's choice.
