Mrs. Violet M. Head, 97, of Sunset
Home, formerly of 1209 Emerald Dr.,
died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday (July 28, 2004) in the home.
Born January 11, 1907 in Deer Creek, MN., Violet was the daughter of
Ernest and Nora Nelson Rodekuhr. She married Charles F. Head on August
9,
1941. He died February 26, 1986.
Mrs. Head was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ.
She was also a member of Springlake Country Club where she enjoyed playing
golf and bridge.. She was a graduate of St. John's Hosptial Nursing School
in St. Paul, MN., and did post graduate work at Michael Reese Hospital
in
Chicago.
Violet was employed as a surgical nurse at Mt. Sinai Hospital in
Chicago and as a nurse at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. She was also a
school
nurse for Quincy Schools and then worked as a visiting nurse before her
retirement.
Surviving is a daughter in law, Ann Head of Tyler, TX.; a son in law,
Joseph Bondi of Hamden, CN.; four grandchildren, Jessica and Peter Bondi
of
Hamden, CN., and Holly and Nicholas Head of Tyler, TX.; a sister, Margaret
Currie of Wadena, MN.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Charles
E. Head; one daughter, Kathryn Bondi; three brothers, Art, Elmer and Norman
Rodekuhr; five sisters, Libby Christianson, Ella Braun, Clara Stump, Mae
Wilson, and Beulah Thompson.
Memorial services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 at the
Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Wanda Seydel.
There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the memorial
services.
Memorials may be made to Sunset Home or to the charity of the Donor's
Choice.
