JOE HEILWAGEN
 

Mr. Joseph B. "Joe" Heilwagen, 79, of 566 North 2500th Ave., Ursa,
died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday (August 5, 2004) in his home.

Born August 24, 1924 in Wayne, Nebraska, Joe was the son of William A.
and Eugenia Anderson Heilwagen. He married Connie Lou Bridgman on October
26, 1963 in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Heilwagen served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II. He was
a member of the Hancock County V. F. W. Post 5117 in Carthage and the Carpenters Union Local
1366. Joe enjoyed playing cards, bowling, gardening and participating in the
farmer's markets. He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with
his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joe was employed at the Gardner-Denver Foundry in Quincy for 15 years
and then as a cabinet maker for Huck Fixture Company for 17 years, retiring
in 1987.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; two daughters, Judy Miller and her
husband Jerry of Ursa and Karen Bernard and her husband Jim of New Canton,
IL.; a step daughter, Sherri Valentine and her husband Tim of Ursa; a step
son, Elmer Harker and his wife Pati of Quincy; twelve grandchildren;
thirteen great grandchildren; three brothers, Russell Heilwagen and his wife
Audrey of Indianapolis, IN., Robert Heilwagen and his wife Liz of Lawrence,
IN. and Jack Heilwagen and his wife Arlene of Quincy; a sister, Helen Lerch
of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Heilwagen was preceded in death by his parents; a great grandson,
Luke Miller; and a sister, Alice Dedert.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in the Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Howard Sallee. Burial with
Military Honors by Hancock County V. F.W. Post 5117 will be in Greenmount
Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Monday until
the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
