| Karen Sue Hendricks, 52, of 429 Koch's Lane, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 6, 2001) in Blessing Hospital. Born Dec. 3, 1948, in Quincy, she was a daughter of Robert and Della Thomas Huntley. She married Michael A. Hendricks June 13, 1968, in New Bern, N.C. He survives. Karen graduated from Quincy High School in 1967, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and was active in the Marching Band and the Music Department. She was also a member of AARP and the National Huntley Association. She enjoyed doing crafts, playing cards, dominos and dice games. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. Karen was a medical transcriptionist at the P & S Clinic, Blessing Hospital and The Quincy Medical Group until her retirement in 1998. When her husband was in the service, she worked in Civil Service at Brook Army Medical Center at Brook Air Force Base researching Agent Orange, and later worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. The last two years she cared for her husband and daughter. Survivors include her parents, Robert and Della Huntley of San Marcos, TX.; a daughter, Kristin Michelle Hendricks of Quincy; a son, Shawn Alan Hendricks and his wife, Susan, of Palm Bay, FL.; three grandchildren, Theresa Layton, Chrystal Layton, and Lauren Layton, all of Palm Bay; two brothers, Richard Huntley and his wife, Barb, of Loraine, and Robald Huntley and his wife, Sharon, of Loveland, Ohio; two sisters, Marlene Shoup of Quincy and Mardell Leerhoff and her husband, Merle, of Boerne, TX.; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale Hendricks Sr. and his wife, Madeline, of Quincy and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Gary Anholt. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 Monday and until time of services Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. |
