Connie J. Hester, 56, of 710 South 16th, died at 2:11 p.m. Wednesday (November 12, 2003) in Blessing Hospital. Born November 21, 1946 in Quincy, Connie was the daughter of Bruce William and Catherine Miller Hester. Connie was a 1964 graduate of Notre Dame High School. She attended Quincy Beauty Academy and John Wood Community College to receive certification as an L. P. N. She worked as a private duty nurse and at the Illinois Veterans Home for many years until her retirement. Connie enjoyed reading and loved to cook. She will be remembered for always taking care of others first and she will be missed by her loving family. Survivors include a son, Steven Hester of Quincy; two daughters, Jennifer Hutton and her husband Sam and Holly Hester both of Quincy; her father, Bruce William Hester of Quincy; eight grandchildren, Justin Scott, Mary Parker, Garrett Parker, Damien Miller, Joshua Miller, Erica Miller and Darien Hester all of Quincy and Austin Russell of Malabar, FL.; four brothers, Terry Hester and his wife Glenda of Royse City, TX., James Hester and his wife Sheila and Larry Hester and his wife Joan all of Quincy, and Ted Hester and his wife Jennifer of Collinsville, IL.; a sister, Margaret Donald and her husband Bill of Quincy; three cousins, Ken Miller and his wife Laura of Paris, CA., Linda Thompson and Mary Jo Sapp both of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Connie was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine; paternal grandparents, Otho and Bertha Hester; and maternal grandparents, Albert and Helen Miller. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 9:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church by the Rev. Jeff Holtman. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. A Christian Wake Service will be held Friday evening at 7:00 in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation. |
