CARL HIBBARD
Mr. Carl Hibbard, 81, of Payson,, died at 11:30 p.m. Friday (December 13, 2002) in Memorial Hospital in Springfield.

Born August 27, 1921 in Quincy, Carl was the son of Walter and Sarah Essie Stone Hibbard. He married Hilda C. Brannick on July 7, 1949 in Quincy. She died on August 29, 1981. He married Goldie Shevers on June 10, 1983 in Quincy. She died on November 1, 1995.

Carl was a member of the Payson United Methodist Church, Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 of Hannibal and the United Auto Workers. He loved to travel and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Hibbard served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II in the New Guinea Campaign, receiving one Bronze Battle Star.

Carl worked as a line operator inspector for Electric Wheel, a division of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 36 years until his retirement in 1982.

Surviving is a daughter, Sandra McQueen and her husband Robert of Morrisonville, IL.; three grandchildren, Corey McQueen, Erin McQueen and Bethany McQueen all of Morrisonville; a brother, Harold Hibbard and his wife Phyllis of Payson; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hibbard was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; a brother, Merl Hibbard; and a sister, Verada Sederwall.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson by the Rev. Richard Ahlgrim. Burial with military honors by the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be in Akers Chapel Cemetery near Plainville.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home in Payson.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
