Mrs. Joan Higham, 71, of Sunset Home, formerly of 611 Country Club
Heights, died at 9:50 a.m. Sunday (June 4, 2004) in Sunset Home.

Born February 19, 1933 in Quincy, Joan was the daughter of Archie and
Mabel Wollbrink Chambers. Joan and her sister Doris were raised in the
home of Norma Spidle and her three children and by her Aunt Florence.She
married John Higham on December 24, 1955 in Quincy. He preceded her in death in
1967.

A graduate of Quincy High School, Joan managed Three Sisters Ladies
Store before operating local taverns.

Survivors include her Aunt, Norma Mixer of Quincy; three cousins,
Mary Lou Schlipmann, Phyllis Johnson and her husband Richard and Jim Spidle
and Peggy Meyer all of Quincy; a step daughter, Betty Guercio of California;
a sister in law, Elizabeth Higham Scott of Florida; four step grandchildren;
six step great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephew and great nieces and
great nephews.

Mrs. Higham was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Doris
Chambers; two cousins, Leaton Cobb and Steve Goudschaal; and many Uncles
and Aunts including, Florence Altheide and Malinda Adcox.

Memorial services will be held Thursday evening at 6:00 in the
Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Roger Selves. Private
family inurnment will be in the Bethany Cemetery in Tioga, Illinois.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 until the time of
services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Sunset
Home, whose management and staff have given such loving and compassionate
care to Joan for the past year and a half.
