Mrs. Dorothy Hild, 84, of Good Samaritan Home, died at 10:35 a.m. Saturday (August 17, 2002) in the home. Born October 28, 1917 in Quincy, Dorothy was the daughter of Thomas and Anna Strieker Horn. She married George "Govey" Hild on January 11, 1936 in Quincy. He died December 11, 1991. Dorothy was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She was a member of the Women's Guild at church and the Good Samaritan Home Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics, and also served as an election judge. She was employed at the Illinois State Bank as a Switchboard operator for many years until her retirement in 1971. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Hendrian and her husband Don, and Sheri Russell and her husband Michael, both of Quincy; six grandchildren, Don Hendrian Jr., and Dan Hendrian, both of Quincy, David Hild and his wife Teresa of Houston, TX., Steve Hild and his wife Julie of Kansas City, MO., Lori Pickett and her husband Rodd, and Tom Pickett and his wife Michele, both of Quincy; five step grandchildren, Steve Russell, Brian Russell, David Wingerter, Greg Wingerter, and Lynn Wingerter; fifteen great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy M. Hild of Quincy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, George T. "Butch" Hild; one grandson, Robert Ray Hild; two brothers, Lawrence and George Horn; and one sister, Mary Hild. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in Trinity United Church of Christ by Rev. Tim White. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Tuesday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ or Good Samaritan Home. |
