Mrs. Emily E. Walker Hoener, 88, formerly of 636 Madison, died at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday (January 7, 2003) in St. Vincent's Home. Born April 12, 1914 in Quincy, Emily was the daughter of John W. and Amelia Brosi Liebig. She married Cloyd Walker in 1929 in Springfield, Illinois. She married William Hoener on May 20, 1967 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1990. Emily had been active at Twin Oaks Club. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and working in her yard. During WW II, Emily worked at Motorola and Quincy Paper Box. Following the war, Emily devoted her life to her family. She especially loved to babysit for her grandchildren, who will always remember her wonderful sense of humor. Surviving is a daughter, LaRae Liesen and her husband Donald of Sebastian, FL.; two grandchildren, Mark Liesen and his wife Patricia of Lawrenceville, GA. and Donna Humbert and her husband Rhodie of Melbourne, FL. ; four great grandchildren, Jennifer Futter and her husband Todd of Bethlehem, GA., Patrick Liesen of Winder, GA., Kristie Liesen of Lawrenceville, GA. and Dustin Smith of Orlando, FL.; two great great grandchildren; Austin Futter and Alyssa Futter both of Bethlehem, GA.; two step daughters, Beth Ann Terstriep of Moline and Becky Eads and her husband Larry of Grey, TN.; two step sons, Joe Hoener of Quincy and Randy Hoener and his companion Alice Clark of Grand Prairie,TX.; eight step grandchildren, Megan Eads, John Eads, James Terstriep, Bill Terstriep, Lori White and her husband Bill, Kim Stephens and her husband Chris, Kelly Reid and her husband Bob and Trey Hoener; 14 step great grandchildren, Susie, Stacy and Connie Humbert, Keith, Nikole and Taylor Terstriep, Emily, Ashley, William and Patrick White, Codey and Gage Stephens and Alexis and Joshua Reid; and five nieces and a nephew. Emily was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Helen Koesjan, Edith Sinnock and Olive Best; and four brothers, Ralph, Russell, John and Harry Liebig. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Steve Disseler. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice, the American
Cancer Society or the Glaucoma/Macular Degeneration Foundation. |
