Mr. Alvin H. Ippensen, 89, of 3334 Keller Lane, died at 7:00 a.m. Thursday (January 29, 2004) in Blessing Hospital.

Born December 24, 1914 in Ellington Township, Illinois, Alvin was the son of August and Emma Rabe Ippensen. He married Anna M. Kappner on April 19, 1939 in Palmyra, Missouri. She survives.

Mr. Ippensen was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ and the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Mr. Ippensen farmed all of his life in Melrose Township. Along with his brother Ervin, he owned and operated the Ippensen-Simpson Allis Chalmers Implement Company on North 24th from 1959 to 1969.

Survivors include his wife Anna; two daughters, Bonnie Jean Peters and her husband Richard and Shirley Ann Blair and her husband Donald all of Quincy; three sons, Gerald Alvin Ippensen and his wife Jane and Steve Alan Ippensen and his wife Sue all of Quincy and Kenneth August Ippensen and his wife Barb of Payson; twelve grandchildren, Carol Coulter and her husband David, Becky Meehan and her husband Rick, Dennis Peters and his wife Kathy, David Peters, Andrew Ippensen and his wife Melissa, Brenda Ippensen, Carrie Ippensen, Susan Cramsey and her husband Dave, Cathy Power and her husband Eric, Brian Ippensen and his wife Penny, Sarah Stock and her husband Rob and Lorrie Ippensen; four step grandchildren, Annette Ehrhardt and her husband Dennis, Alan Schrand and his wife Melanie, Chris Schrand and his wife Loralee and Karen Ronchetto and her husband Dan; twenty great grandchildren; twelve step great grandchildren; one great great grandson; three step great great granddaughters; a sister in law, Mildred Ippensen of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ippensen was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Shelly Ippensen; a brother, Ervin Ippensen; and three sisters, Beulah Ippensen, Norma Speckhart and Laura Robertson.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Stephen Schuette. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Salem Church.
