| Mrs. Irene Johnston, 72 of 1604 Little Lane, died at 12:25 p.m. Sunday (February 24, 2002) in her home. Born July 5, 1929 in St. Louis, MO., Irene was the daughter of Peter and Dora Harriet Boernson. She married Clarence E. Johnston Jr. on November 1, 1947 in Quincy. He died December 1, 1975. Mrs. Johnston was employed as a housekeeper in Quincy, retiring in 1989 from Quinsippi Nursing Home. Surviving is a son, William Johnston of Quincy; two daughters, Wanda Wilcox and her husband Edwin of Meyer, and Brenda Owsley of Quincy; a daughter in law, Jane Johnston of Fowler; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Johnston, and Jim Johnston both of Fowler, Robert Johnston and his wife Teresa of Camp Point, Johanna Owsley and Betty Owsley, and Ginger Fry all of Quincy, and William J. Johnston of Loraine; three great grandchildren, William J. Owsley, Jacob Fry and Joshua Fry all of Quincy; and a sister, Evelyn Stevens of Quincy. Mrs. Johnston was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jerry Johnston; two sisters, Darlene Boernson and Virgie Clarkson; and three brothers, Robert Boernson, Richard Boernson and Clyde Boernson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. |
