| Mr. Warren D. "Wayne" Jones, 63, of 2834 Bluff Ridge Drive, died at 4:10 p.m. Monday (January 28, 2002)
in his home. He was under the loving care of his family and the Blessing Hospice. Born August 12, 1938 in Springfield, IL., Wayne was the son of Wilbert and Marjorie Woodrum Jones. He married his loving wife, Kathy, on June 15, 1973 in Jacksonville, IL. She survives. Wayne worked as an engineer on the Norfolk & Southern Railroad for 43 years. He coached his children in softball and baseball for many years in Quincy. One of his favorite hobbies was tearing down walls and he kept everyone in stitches while remodeling homes throughout the years. Wayne was a member of Madison Park Christian Church and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Also surviving are two sons, Rick Jones and his wife, Cherie of St. Louis, MO and Bradley Roberts of Phoenix, AZ ; five daughters, Lori Peters and her husband, Dan and Tawny Johnston and her husband, Michael both of Quincy, and Cindy Jones, Kenda Jones Fourmy, and Jackie Jones Charbonnet and her husband Steve all of St. Louis, MO; ten grandchildren, Lexi and Logan Peters, Ryan Jones, Mackenzie and Mallory Johnston, Grant and Griffin Charbonnet, and Michael Roberts, Rich Peters and his wife Stephanie and Danielle Peters ; three great grandchildren, Drake, Alex and Peyton Peters; a brother, David Jones of Springfield, IL.; and a sister, Diana Hamblen and her husband Jeff of Springfield, IL. A true husband and a dedicated father, Wayne will be missed by everyone. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Verna Dee Sidener. Graveside services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 in the Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum by Pastor Bruce Willard. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice. |
