DONALD R. KINDHART
 

Mr. Donald R. "Donnie" Kindhart, 56, of 407 South 4th, died at 7:25 p.m. Monday (September 29, 2003) in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital.

Born February 7, 1947 in Clayton, Donnie was the son of Troy and Imogene Lamma Kindhart Sr. He married Brenda Snider on August 7, 1986 in Palmyra, Missouri. She survives.

Donnie enjoyed attending flea markets and fishing, but his life was dedicated to helping other people, especially helping disadvantaged children. He took kids camping and always made sure that there were Christmas presents under the tree for them. He was active in the Neighborhood Federation and was one of the founders of the Franklin and Jefferson Neighborhood Centers. He received many awards for his work with children one of which was the State of Illinois Jaycees Man of the Year Award. Donnie was a wonderful husband who dearly loved his children, grandchildren, and all his nieces and nephews.

He was employed for over 20 years at K & B Builders as a siding applicator.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda; his mother, Imogene Kindhart of Quincy; a son, Jason Snider of Quincy; three daughters, Jessica "Buda" Kindhart and her fiancé Craig Meyers, April Hess and Heather Kindhart all of Quincy; six grandchildren, Jocelyn Meyers, Rusty Hess Jr., Jamie Hess, Mariah Hess, Raven Bartlett and Javier Ramos, all of Quincy; two brothers, Troy E. Kindhart and his companion Jean and John Kindhart and his wife Stephanie all of Quincy; eight sisters, Mae Daggett, Edna Pearl Kelley, Betty Lou Mumpower, Rhonda Murry and her husband Rocky, Shirley Lepper and her husband Virgil, Norma Laws Reid, and Sharon Cain and her husband Robert all of Quincy and Barbara Carnes and her husband Bob of Liberty; a sister in law, Elizabeth "Betty" Kindhart of Quincy; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kindhart was preceded in death by his father, and one brother, Richard E. Kindhart.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastors Tom Waters and Dixie Koch. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Friday until the time of services in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Donnie Kindhart Memorial Fund.
