GLENN L. KNIGHT
 

Mr. Glenn L. Knight, 73, of 330 East Main, Plainville, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (January 22, 2004) in Blessing Hospital.

Born November 19, 1930 in LaPrairie, Illinois, Glenn was the son of Ray and Ila Blansett Knight. He married Martha Lashmett on August 29, 1951 in Rushville, Illinois. She died on December 24, 1994. He married Dorthy Goertz Gallaher on August 21, 1999 in Liberty. She survives.

Mr. Knight served his country as a corporal in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict with the 839th Engineer Battalion. He was awarded a Bronze Battle Star.

Glenn was a member of the Liberty Christian Church and the Payson V.F.W. Post 2061. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching sports.

Glenn was employed as a driver for 45 years, many of those with Leeser Truck Company. Following his retirement in 1993, he worked part time for McNay Truck Lines until 1998.

Survivors of Glenn's blended family include his wife, Dorthy; four sons, Andy Knight and his wife Esther of Golden, Wayne Gallaher and his wife Henrietta of Marblehead, IL. Eldon Gallaher and his wife Debbie of Liberty and Harold Gallaher of Seattle, WA.; four daughters, Rosanne Knight and her significant other Mark Hendricks, Barbara Schmidt and her husband Richard and Donna Eager and her husband David all of Quincy and Susie Knight and her significant other Carol Skaggs of New Haven, CT.; eleven grandchildren, Mikki Fletcher and her husband Brad of Quincy, MA., Nicole Kuhlman and her husband Jason and James E. White and Jill Lewis all of Quincy Jennifer Knight of Golden, Mike Eager and his wife Katie, Danny Eager, Lacey Gallaher, Andy Gallaher and Carla Gallaher all of Quincy, Melissa Jackson of Palm Coast, FL., Paul Hoover and his wife Yvonne in the U. S. Air Force stationed in Turkey, Jennifer Waterfall and her husband Jeff of Davenport, IA. and Amanda Gallaher with Brennan Parkhill of Liberty; several great grandchildren; two sisters, June Patton of Altoona, IL. and Effie Snyder of Rushville, IL.; three sisters in law, Jane Jensen and her husband Paul, Susie Chapman and her husband James and Sara Hatch and her husband Richard; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Martha;

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson by the Rev. Terry Henry. Burial with Military Honors by Payson V. F. W. Post 2061 will be in the Knight Cemetery near Clayton.

Visitation will be Saturday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Sunday until the time of services at the funeral home in Payson.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Liberty Christian Church.
