Mrs. Bernice "B" Koenig, 73, of 2810 Elm, died at 9:51 a.m. Monday (April 5, 2004) in her home. Our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend is in Heaven now. She will be greatly missed. Bernice was a giving and kind lady who always thought of others first. Born June 30, 1930 in Quincy, B was the daughter of Joseph F. and Henrietta A. Siebrasse Kinder. She married Robert Koenig on November 24, 1955 in Salem Church in Quincy. He survives. B was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ where she was a Sunday School teacher and cub scout leader. She was very active with the P. T. A. and was awarded a lifetime membership through the Washington School P. T. A. B enjoyed growing flowers and working in her garden and loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed watching all of her grandchildren participate in their many activities. She was an avid Blue Devil, Raider and Highland High School fan. A 1948 graduate of Quincy High School, she began her career with the Quincy Public Schools in 1949 at Quincy Jr. High School. In 1963 she went to Washington School where she worked as a teachers aid and lunchroom monitor until her retirement in 1993. B. devoted many hours of her time and creativity to the teachers and students. Survivors include her husband, Robert; a son, Hal Koenig and his wife Jane of Quincy; two daughters, Ronna Reddick and her husband Randy of Lewistown, MO. and Karla Goehl of Quincy; six grandchildren, Laura Goehl, Amanda Goehl, Kim Koenig, and Kyle Koenig all of Quincy and Sara Reddick and Katherine Reddick both of Lewistown, MO.; a sister, Shirley Ostermiller of Lewistown, MO.; a sister in law, Katherine Koenig of Quincy; a brother in law, Jim Koenig and his wife Audrey of Quincy; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Koenig was preceded in death by her parents; a sister in infancy; and four brothers in law and three sisters in law. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Wanda Seydel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Washington School Children's Fund. B's family would like to thank family, friends the employees of Harris Corp., Broadway Hy-Vee and the staff at Highland High School for your prayers and kindness shown to our family and mom. |
