Mrs. Mary Kurfman, 83, of Sunset Home, formerly of Payson, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday (January 9, 2004) in Sunset Home. Born July 19, 1920 in Pike County, Near Pittsfield, Mary was the daughter of Arthur and Annie Bigsby Coulter. She married Emil Kurfman on October 9, 1937 in Palmyra, Missouri. He died February 11, 1986. Mrs. Kurfman was a member of Payson Christian Church and a graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, growing flowers, and collecting Cardinal Birds and Praying Hands. Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family. Survivors include two daughters, Ruby Uhland of London Mills, Illinois and Evelyn Schmidt and her husband Harold of Payson; three sons David E Kurfman and his wife Carolyn of Quincy, E Dwain Kurfman and his wife Carrie and Ronald W. Kurfman both of Payson; two daughter in laws Karen Kurfman of Golden and Melody Kurfman of Payson; Twenty grandchildren, Sheryl Johnson, Carl Uhland, Mark Uhland, Melissa Bauman, Randy Kurfman, Rene Kurfman, Marti Kurfman, Jayma Quenon, Kellie Dietrich, Shelly Dittmer, Kim Goodwin, Michael Kurfman, Angela Schmidt, Carla Trautvetter, Gina Sheurman, Kobi Blair, Laci Kurfman, Tori Kurfman, Tucker Kurfman and Trevor Harris; Forty great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and an Uncle L. E. Coulter of Hannibal, Missouri. Mrs. Kurfman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son James A. Kurfman; one great grandson Benjamin Bauman; one brother Harold Coulter and one sister Evelyn Glienke. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral in Payson by the Rev Ken Worcester, Rev. Rick Welch and a grandson, Randy Kurfman. Burial will be in the Payson New Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home in Payson. Memorials may be made to the Payson Christian Church or the Blessing Foundation for Hospice. |
