VIOLA LEAR
 

Mrs. Viola Lear, 70, of the St. Vincent's Home, formerly of 1501 North 5th, died at 4:54 p.m. Saturday (July 12, 2003) in St. Vincent's Home.

Born June 25, 1933 in LaGrange, Missouri, Viola was the daughter of Olin and Cora Douglas Cartwright. She married John W. Lear on October 26, 1979 in Quincy. He died March 14, 1998.

Viola was a member of the First Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.

Viola was employed as a dietician for Good Samaritan Home for 28 years and then worked as an aid for Fletcher's Day Care for three years until her retirement.

Surviving is a daughter, Rhonda Ball of Quincy; two sons, Antonio Ball and Steven Ball both of Quincy; six grandchildren, Dana Poindexter and her husband Christopher of Norfolk, VA., Tyra Mallory of San Diego, CA., and Trent Ball, Joseph Ball, Chante Ball and Brittney Ball all of Quincy; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Annabelle Humphrey and her husband Everett of LaGrange, MO.; a sister in law, Shirley Cartwright of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lear was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Russell Cartwright.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the First Baptist Church by the Rev. Orville Jones. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 until the time of services at the First Baptist Church.

Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.
