Mrs. Ruth M. Leatherman, 85,
of the Good Samaritan Home, died at 7:30
p.m. Monday (November 15, 2004) at the home.
Born September 20, 1919 in Quincy, Ruth was the daughter of Harry W.
and Amanda Hermsmeier Hoener. She married Eugene E. Leatherman on June
26,
1949 in Quincy. He died June 6, 1978.
Ruth was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was active with
various ladies' circles at the church.
Ruth loved to help others in need and worked as a Home Health Care Aid
for many years. She also loved being around children and enjoyed
babysitting, especially her own grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Wiemelt and her husband Kirby
of Quincy and Linda Meier and her husband Paul of East Moline, IL.; four
grandchildren, Jennifer Ulan and her husband David of Rock Island, IL.,
Keith Wiemelt and his wife Tracey of Quincy, Erin Meier and Leah Meier
both
of East Moline, IL.; a great grandson, Zander Ulam of Rock Island, IL.;
two
sisters, Dorothy Hoener of Quincy and Wilma Walz of Phoenix, AZ.; and
several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Leatherman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a
brother, Harry Hoener; a sister in law, Pat Hoener; and a brother in law,
Robert Walz.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Steve Livengood. Burial
will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Friday until
the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Home, Grace United
Methodist Church or the American Red Cross.
