LEWIS LEE LITTLE
 

Mrs. Lewis Lee Little, 98, of Sunset Home, fornerly of 1811 South
24th, died at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday (June 22, 2004) in Blessing Hospital.

Born July 20, 1905 in Plymouth, Illinois, Lewis Lee was the daughter of
Walter Lee and Stella Baker Garnett. She came to Quincy in 1921 and
graduated from Quincy High School two years later. On December 23, 1926, she
married Chester A. Little and moved to Chicago until the end of WW II. when
they returned to Quincy. Mr. Little preceded her in death on February 19,
1988.

Mrs. Little was a graduate of Quincy University and earned a masters
degree in education from the University of Illinois. She taught first grade
at Dewey School for 26 years, retiring in 1971.

Mrs. Little ws a life member of the National and Illinois Education
Association, past president of the Adams County Retired Teachers
Association, past regent of Dorothy Quincy Chapter of the Daughters of the
American Revolution, a 50 year member and Past Matron of Alpha Chapter 109
Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Women's City Club, Hannibal (MO)
China Painters, Daughters of the Nile, Quincy Symphony Guild, the Great
River Genealogical Society, Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and the Vermont Street
United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughers, Nancy Penrose of Quincy and Sarah
Dockery and her husband Bruce of Barrington; four grandchildren, Carol
Corrigan and her husband Mark of Mendon, Patrick Penrose of Quincy, Brian
Dockery of Barrington, and Marla Dockery of Arlington, VA; and nine
great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Little was preceded in death by her parents; her step father,
Cecil Hampton; her husband, Chester A. Little; a son in law, Robert Penrose;
a brother, James Garnett; and a sister, Mary Messner.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. George Youtzy. Burial
will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday morning from 10:00 until the time of services
at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Vermont Street United Methodist Church or to
the charity of the donor's choice.
