| Mr. Arnold W. "Bud"
Lummer, 83, of 1801 Adams, died at 5:37 a.m. Friday
(July 30, 2004) at the Illinois Veterans Home.
Born July 3, 1921 in Quincy, Bud was the only child of Arnold J. and
Hildegarde Prante Lummer. He married Florence C. Stuckman on May 11, 1946
in
Quincy. She survives.
Mr. Lummer was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ
and past member of the Salem Men's Brotherhood. Bud was a lifelong hunter,
fisherman, an avid outdoorsman, a member of the Quinsippi Beagle Club,
and
enjoyed league bowling. He volunteered as a Cubmaster, Scoutmaster and
was a
Commissioner for the Saukee Area Council. He was also a life long Chicago
Cubs fan and enjoyed watching football and Quincy University Hawks
Basketball.
Mr. Lummer was a WWII veteran serving in the Pacific Theater with the
307th Army Air Drome Squadron where he was a radio operator, radio mechanic
and a telephone linesman. Bud retired from Gardner-Denver (Cooper
Industries) in 1983 after 37 years of service. He was a member of the
Gardner-Denver Quarter Century Club.
Surviving is his wife, Florence of Quincy; three daughters, Linda L.
Franke and her husband Lt. Col. James of Bloomington, IL., Sandra S. Lummer
of Springfield, IL., and Karen K. Parks and her husband James of Chicago,
IL.; one son, Randall R. Lummer and his wife Kelly of Camp Point; seven
grandchildren, Edward L. Franke, Richard D. Franke and his wife Gina,
Jennifer L. Franke, Martin W. "Buddy" Moneysmith, Capt. R. Arron
Lummer and
his wife 1st Lt. Laura, Eric L. Lummer, and Evan W. Lummer; seven great
grandchildren, Jesika S. Franke, JadeLee L. Franke, Skyler D. Franke,
Kaden
T. Franke, Brandon D. J. Hill, Kaitlynn E. Lummer, and Hayden L. Lummer;
and
several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Lummer was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 at the Zehender
Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Wanda Seydel. Burial
will
be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 and Tuesday
morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Salem Church or the Boy Scouts of America.
