| Mrs. Mary L. Lunsford, 87, of 3912 Marian Drive, died at 6:04 a.m. Tuesday (March 6, 2001) in the emergency room
of Blessing Hospital. Born February 4, 1914 in Whitehall, IL., Mary was the daughter of David Hubbard and Effie Lou Swan Cannon. She married John H. Lunsford on July 25, 1931 in Quincy. He survives. Mary was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a member of Volunteer Voices and was a Gray Lady Volunteer at Blessing Hospital. She loved music and enjoyed playing piano and guitar. Also surviving is a son, Stephen Lee Lunsford and his wife Kathie of Allen, TX.; two daughters, Barbara Ann Sweeney and her husband Gene of Houston, TX. and Mary Lou Rogers and her husband Turner of Mexico, MO.; 12 grandchildren, Thomas Reid Lunsford, John David Lunsford Jr. and Stephanie Jan Sawyer all of Memphis, TN., Carrie Halvachs of Fairview Heights, IL., Catherine Hinton of Midland, GA., Steven Sweeney of Richardson, TX., Kimberly Host of Granbury, TX., Christine Moyer of Phoenix, AZ., Lindy Rehrig of Quincy, Angela Cooper of Wilmington, DE., Ryan Lunsford of Allen, TX. and Leigh Ann Cochran of Charlotte, N. C.; 20 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a son John David Lunsford Sr.; two sisters, Ruby Uhlenbrock and Malinda McMillan; and a brother, Luke Cannon. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in First Christian Church by the Rev. George Sublette. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Saturday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the church. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund. |
