| Mrs. Mary Luthin, 78, of the Lincoln Douglas Apartments, formerly of 1108 South 22nd, died at 6:34 p.m. Friday
(January 25, 2002) in her home. Born May 3, 1923 in Quincy, Mary was the daughter of Edward and Birdella Weisenborn Koch. She married William F. "Bill" Luthin Sr. on July 2, 1944 in Salem Church in Quincy. He died January 15, 1995. Mary was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ and the Salem Women's Guild. She was a 1941 graduate of Quincy High School and was active in organizing the class reunions. Mary also volunteered with R.S.V.P. , the American Red Cross and the Gardner Museum. Surviving is a daughter, Susie Koontz of Quincy; a son, Bill Luthin Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Quincy; eight grandchildren, Chasity Shirey and her husband Patrick of Frisco, TX., Shanda Luthin, Jeremy Luthin, Nicole Luthin, Jennifer Church, Elizabeth Koontz and Branden Nebe and his wife Tonya all of Quincy, Michael Church and his wife Jennifer Lynn of Virginia Beach, VA. and Jason Nebe of Galesburg; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Alice Mansfeldt of Quincy; a sister in law, Dorothy Luthin of Sherman, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Richard Koch and Howard Koch. Memorial services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ by the Rev. Wanda Seydel. Private inurnment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. There will be no visitation, but the family will meet with friends following the services. Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Salem Church or the charity of the donor's choice. |
